Plank Cuts

Three simple terms used to describe a board.

End grain: Extremity of transversal cut of a squared wood plank.

Side grain: Tangential cut parallel to growth rings. In other words, the thinnest side of a squared plank.

Flat grain: Top of squared wood plank, cut at right angle to the growth rings.
